If drivers are needed, just install from your flash drive. I'd go to your device Manufacturer website and download all drivers for your device and save to flash drive first, then install Win10. Those are not Microsoft issues, but manufacturer.
Even if you got the upgrade to Win10 option, drivers can still cause issues. You can try using the Media Creation tool to leapfrog to Win10, but drivers may not be available for your specific computer.
Some computers did not get the upgrade option yet to Windows 10 because drivers are still being developed. This can be done via the web on your MS Account page. Preferably a brand new email account, OR create an alias for your existing account with the domain. You should really make a new Microsoft Account if you have not done so already. The Media Creation tool include the pro version. Once Windows 10 is installed, follow above option for clean install. To go directly to one of the versions, select one of these links: Windows 7. On that website, you can select a version of Windows and create your own installation media using either a USB flash drive or a DVD.
This will register your current Windows version key with Microsoft. To create installation media, go to the software download website, where youll find step-by-step instructions. Run the Windows 10 tool and upgrade your unit, keeping everything. It's a sticker on your computer somewhere (bottom, side, top, back). If you have another version that is NOT Windows 10, you'll need to download the Microsoft Windows Media Creation Tool. Then opt to not keep anything upon restoring the unit. Under the top section "Reset this PC" click "Get Started".

He is not saying that just by pressing the button you have stopped activation. Note: Vinod's response is suggesting to not put in a different key. I know, because while waiting for one of my PC's to activate I basically entered all 0's to get it to do something, it says wrong key and continues to wait.

There is no "serial" that is provided with them anymore, they are baked in. The odd ball is my laptop, it's a pre installed version of windows that gets it's key from the BIOS/UEFI. I have already updated 2 x PC's in my house which came from Windows 8.1 installs I performed. Thanks for chiming in Kronical_420, but I think we are in a little bit of a different situation. as a side note when I ran the upgrade it said - my language would be changed - does this maybe have something to do with it? or can you swap between en_us / en_uk - which is what I assume its doing? Or did I get sent a dodgy windows 8.1 key. I really don't want to have to wait for 48 hours just to have it stay the same and have to ring back anyway. What worries me is - will it even activate - and do I have a unique problem - because I cant seem to find this error code in any other posts on the internet yet. Two others said - the servers are slow etc and to leave it upto 48 hours.
Microsoft reps twice tried to put me through to the tech support dept - and it cut off twice. I am now getting windows 10 is not activated - This product key doesn't work you may need to get in touch with the shop or company you brought Windows from, or you can buy a new key from Microsoft. I then UPGRADED through the media creation tool. I reserved my free copy of windows 10 through the icon.
